A couple of tips for you rose gardeners. Do you have a mildew problem? To stop mildew, I add 1/2 teaspoon each of baking powder and dishwashing liquid, and also 1 tabespoon of refined horticultural oil to 1 gallon of water. Stir it well and apply to the foliage of your roses in early spring, late June and early August. Also, try to keep your foliage dry, by avoiding overhead watering and allowing plenty of space between bushes continued air ciculation. Do you want beautiful blooms all season long? Deadhead, Deadhead, Deadhead! I try to deadhead every few days any of the faded or dead hips on my plants. They usually bloom well into July.
Thank you and Happy Gardening! ~ Sarah

We toss banana peels into the dirt around our roses. They're very high in nitrogen and roses love it! I've known folks who have planted a couple of bananas right in along with each rose they've planted!

Is that true, Erin? I've wanted roses in my garden but they always die and do not give as much flowers.
I have banana plants in my orchard, so I will try planting roses near them.

How do you deadhead your rosebush? How long do you cut off the bloom stem?

I would love to have roses in my garden as well. Do you think this kind of plant would survive in a high temperature country? What are the other things that I should consider if I would have these roses?

HI! Krishna, i heard about onion peelings & vitamin capsules, but is it good for the egg s*s to put around rose plant? One of the nursery carer told that we should not put egg s*s because they doesn't mix with soil.
