Now I love all of nature's creatures, but I don't love them devouring all my hard work in the garden! Keep them at bay naturally without harmful chemicals with something you probably have in your pantry already- Vinegar!

Rabbits?
Keep rabbits away by soaking cotton balls in vinegar and sprinkling them around flower beds in locations where rabbits are likely to enter (some remedies even recommend soaking corn cobs and burying them near Thumper’s entry points).
Cats?
Spray undiluted vinegar along the perimeter of flowerbeds or sandboxes to keep them out. In both cases, remember to reapply the vinegar solution every few weeks or after it rains. You can also spray undiluted white vinegar on dandelions to kill them without adding unhealthy chemicals to your lawn.
Slugs?
And if you have slugs or snails munching on your foliage, patrol the garden at night with a spray bottle full of a 50:50 mix of white vinegar and water. Zap any slimers you see.

I never thought that vinegar can be used as natural repellent in our garden. Can I use this to keep other insects in my garden as well? Does this vinegar, in a way affect the plants in my garden?

I was never able to make the vinegar work for dandelions?? I was applying full strength, but they never die.

I eventually resorted to commercial chemicals. If you can tell me a secret to making the vinegar work I'd appreciate it!

Household is fine, but it's only about 5% acidity. Try getting commercial online at 15% acidity. However, you can try using 3/4 vinegar, a combination of white and balsamic, along with salt and water. In 1-2 days this will work. You could also just use rock salt. This science will dry out the protective skin on the weed. This will also kill grass. Go to http://www.grassrootsgrass.com for more ideas.

Thanks for this information, however, would it not increase the acidity of the soil around my plants if the spray drips around it?
