Vegetable gardens are very beneficial to our health, especially when we are the one who planted this fresh and green leafy vegetables.

These are some helpful tips , I have read, for starting a vegetable garden.

* start with a small garden space for your vegetable, no larger than 8'x10'
* try to locate a space where the sun shines the most during the day
* check on the soil, sandy loam is the best soil type to be planted
* choose the vegetable you wanted to plant and we are now ready for a vegetable garden

Enjoy planting.

I love to see vegetables in my garden, thanks for the tips Joebert. Well then I guess not all type of vegetables can be planted in the garden, right? I have to consider the space, climate and other factors in choosing the right seed to sow.

I love our garden. This is my favorite time of the year here in NY. It's gardening season! There is nothing better than working in the garden and then seeing all the vegetables grow. Picking them and eating them too.
We started small and then added more space to the garden. You should also check to see when to plant each vegetable, some are earlier planters than others.

Have you started making your own vegetable garden? I'm still thinking of the vegetable I'm going to plant. Another issue, we have some puppies at home and they might destroy my garden.

Do you need to prepare the soil for vegetable gardening? I often see plots in vegetable gardens. How do you make plots?

Can you start a vegetable garden in containers if you do not know how to make plots? What kinds of vegetables can be grown in containers and how big should the containers be?

Thanks for the great advice. I missed out on planting my vegetable garden this year and really miss it. I would also add that it takes alot of weeding. You want to keep your garden up by making sure that the plants aren't overcome by weeds.
