During the week some idiot spilled turps on my front lawn and killed of a patch about the size of a pizza

Aside from my problem...

What is the best way to grow back dead patches in lawn, killed by shade, weed killer, other chemicals and so on? is pulling it up and droping a square of turf in the way to go?

Clear out the dead grass, scrape the area and a little bit into the established area of grass to disturb the soil and possibly some of the established roots, as this will encourage new growth, and then use an All-In-One patch product.  These have grass seed, fertilizer and mulch.  Be sure to water on a regular basis, even after your 1st varities germinate to encourage proper establishment.  Good luck!

Thank you and Happy Gardening! ~ Sarah
