Hi Guys, One of my clients accidently poisoned his lawn with weed killer. Apprently he sprayed for lawn grub but didn't clean out his canester proberly which resulted in the above. I suggested the best bet would be to relay new turf in place of the dead part of the lawn, however he has asked for a cheaper option, which I don't think there is one as the roots would be poisoned as well. Just wanted to check with you guys in case I'm wrong. Cheers

With a dozer remove the top layers of topsoil then replace these layers with good topsoil and replant seed. You will need to remove at least 6-8 inches maybe more as grass roots extend that deep.

Im by no means an expert on this Martyn but i did notice a product once called something like "lawn 1st aid". It was a combination of seed, lifter and wetting agent I think? .... it was designed for restoring dead patches in lawn form dog piss etc, whether its any good or if it would work on your lawn im not sure tho

If it is a small area, I would tend to agree with removing a few top layers of the soil and replacing with new soil and then re-seeding this area with an All-In-One patch product that contains grass seed, starter fertilizer and a mulching product. This area would need to be watered on a regular basis until all grass seed varities have germinated.
