Gardening is a time for me to commune with my God and with my inner self.

Whenever I go to my garden, I talk with my plants and sometimes I unburden myself to them. They are good listeners. I can vent out my anger by pulling weeds and looking for bugs and pests and crushing them.

Weeding in the garden or re-potting and trimming my plants, I commune with my God. I can talk my troubles away with Him and in the silence between us, wisdom comes. I experienced that the best times to think out my problems and map out solutions and alternative actions is when I am out in my garden.

I totally agree with you Tita Luna, I feel relaxed every time I'm in the garden. With my plants, I can pour out my emotions whenever I feel lonely and depressed. Have you tried gardening with your family or friends? I usually do this during weekends.

I agree that gardening can be therapeutic, and I think that can be the case whether or not someone has a religious tie to it.

I read a book that would suggest simple physical activities require the attention of the left side of the brain, which frees the right side to do what it does best, which is be creative in solving problems, etc. It's been a few years since I read that book - Hopefully I haven't mixed up the sides.

Gardening is our bonding time and I love gardening with my family. Once your family is gathered, you will be able to discuss updates about each other, right? And for me, it's a therapy, the family that gardens together stays together.

Gardening is indeed a therapy. When my father got ill, he wasn't able to do many things just like before. When he started gardening, he looks healthier than before. I guess that would be a proof that gardening is a therapy. What do you think? Anyway, aside from being a therapy, gardens are the best place to unwind.

Every year my mom and I get together and plant flowers and vegetables in her garden. We go to the store together to pick everything out and then plant together. It is a wonderful way to spend time with family and I look forward to it every year!

As a kid, my mom used to always go outside in the lawn and do her gardening. She made the front of the house and the yard look so beautiful. I didn't go out there and help her much because she said that she did it to unstress and relax and I didn't want to bother her. That was her time. Something she enjoyed. She gave so much of her time to me and my brother, that I figured was MOM's thing. Which I never really got into it. But now I have been trying and think I might just get the hang of it.

Nice. Sounds touching. It seems she really loves to do gardening. But what if its a means for her to escape something? Oh no.

That's great! I'm glad to hear that you and your family have this kind of bonding. It is fun. I tried it but not with my family. I guess that would be more fun huh?

Gardening is not quite an easy activity. Most of the time I would bend, stand up, walk around and dig. You would absolutely burn lots of calories. So, how often do you garden?

Yes, gardening can both be a therapy and bonding time for family. Harvest time in vegetable garden can be fun bonding time for family and friends.

Well maybe it did meant for her to escape the madness of raising me and my brother! LOL. She did really love it and she really didn't do much for herself so gardening was very pleasant and "her" time.

Yes, their are really persons who give more time to there garden than to their selves. One of my aunt is like this until such time she forgot to get married.LOL! Well, for me, gardening is not good nor bad. However, why don't we give time to ourselves? If we could gave an extra care for them, how much more to us?

Gardening really binds the family together. You really have great time with your mother. I wonder, do you cook the vegetables that you harvest in your garden?

I guess when I think of someone gardening I picture them alone, but it sounds like it can be a real social event as well.

Even someone in a retirement facility can have potted plants that they move around to catch more or less light. It's good to know it's a hobby that people can keep up with even in their golden years.
