Preparing your lawn for winter in northern climates  submitted by AdrianR
Basic steps for pre-winter lawn preparation and overseeding

Supplies Needed: Dormant grass seed, aerator, rake, lime, mower.

Directions:   Basic steps Test soil and add lime if ph is lower than 6.0. Lime will work through the dormant season. If an overwinter fertilizer is used, please wait a few weeks prior to applying the lime. Aereate lawn (Every other year) Mow grass Rake all leaves and debris off the lawn Apply seed so that it is in direct contact with the soil Cover or partially cover the seed (unless snow is coming) Water the seed right after seeding and applying cover or partial cover Good luck!!
